Méribel is known as La Coeur des Trois Vallées – the heart of the Three Valleys – because of its location at the centre of the world’s largest ski area and because it pulsates with an energy that few other resorts can match. It’s a beautiful resort that has been sympathetically planned out and that has remained true to its founding principles. All contributing factors to Méribel being named as Family Resort of the Year at the World Snow Awards in 2018.

TRAVEL
Flying - There are a few options when it comes to your destination airport; but Geneva is the recommended option because of greater flexibility for transfers and car hire to take you onto Meribel. The transfer is 187 kms and takes around 2 hours 15 minutes.
Train - The Eurostar glides through France directly from London St Pancras to Moutiers in a little over seven-and-a-half hours and, from there, it’s 18km on to Meribel with transfer options available.
Driving - Drivers will find the roads through France faster and emptier than those in the UK and this is largely down to them being toll roads…so there is a price to pay! London to Meribel takes around 12 hours without stops and this includes the tunnel crossing.
SUPERMARKETS AND RESTAURANTS
If you're driving, it's worth stopping at the supermarket in Moutiers or Albertville as they are larger and cheaper than those in resort. There are plenty of options in resort too with four supermarkets, butchers and bakers.....no candlestick makers that we are aware of!
The choice of eateries across Meribel is vast. We have just two tips - steaks at Chez Kiki (a Meribel institution) in Morel if you are feeling flush and Le Clos Bernard by the forest near the Altiport; perfect for sunny lunches and cosy dinners.
For apres, start at La Folie Douce, then it’s down to Ronnies (le Rond-point – off the Doron piste) to continue with live music and table-dancing!

THINGS TO DO IN RESORT
There is plenty to do for non-skiers. Introduced in 2017, the Mission Black Forest toboggan run is worth a visit (if you are over 1.4m in height!) – it’s 3km in length, descends 470m and has 28 corners!
There’s also the usual menu of ski-resort trips out: husky-sledding, sleigh-rides, snow-shoeing, Nordic skiing and ski-dooing.
For the more down-to-earth pursuits, the Olympic Centre in Méribel has a large swimming pool with slide, a well-equipped gym, an ice rink and a climbing wall. Other than that, it’s ten-pin bowling, the cinema or some retail therapy!
