I am sure we can all agree that the week before Christmas is little short of horrendous! It’s dark when you head out in the morning and it’s dark when you head home in the afternoon...in between times, the sky and clouds combine to create a meteorological grimace that spits icy rain sideways onto the miserable people pounding the streets below. Things are very different in the Alps. The sideways rain will more likely be snowflakes falling slowly and gracefully onto the sides of a mountain in between a coloured pole – green, blue, red or maybe even black. People are happy because they are skiing, the kids are happy because they are skiing and the parents are happy because the kids are skiing and so they are tired and bedtime reverts to 7pm just as the second bottle of red is opened!
